Specialist in Education Ed.S Program

The Specialist in Education (Ed.S.) is a 30-hour professional degree offering three concentrations:

  • School Principal (Levels I and II simultaneously) - Three years of full time teaching experience are required.
  • District Administration (Supervisor of Instruction and Director of Pupil Personnel - Levels I and II simultaneously for both) - At least school principal coursework must be completed.
  • Superintendent - Two years of administrative experience are required.

Admission Requirements

  • Meet admissions requirements of the EKU Graduate School
  • Applicants for the district administration program must hold principal certification.
  • Applicants for the superintendent program  must provide documentation of two years of administrative experience
  • Documentation of three (3) years teaching experience
  • Two (2) letters of recommendation from school/district supervisors and one (1) letter from a district school official pledging support for the clinical experiences,
  • Written statement by application indicating ability to improve student achievement, to lead, and possession of advanced knowledge of curriculum,  instruction, and assessment
  • Completion of interview and assessment process
