Master of Arts in Education in School Leadership

The School Leadership program is designed to prepare teachers to school principals. Candidates are awarded Level I and Level II principal certification and/or rank change upon completion of this program and passing state required licensure exams.

The program is a 10-course sequence delivered on a 100% online/virtual asynchronous platform.  Students complete weekly assignments at their convenience. While some courses may offer optional Zoom sessions with guest speakers, students are not required to be online at a specific time.  Candidates can later pursue certifications for Supervisor of Instruction, Director of Pupil Personnel, and Superintendent (once they have completed two years of administrative experience).

Admission Requirements

• Meet admissions requirements of the EKU Graduate School
• Completion of an initial teaching certification program.
• Documentation of three (3) years teaching experience
• Two (2) letters of recommendation from school/district supervisors and one (1) letter from a district school official pledging support for the clinical experiences,
• Written statement by appliation indicating ability to improve student achievement, to lead, and possession of advanced knowledge of curriculum,  instruction, and assessment
• An interview
